A new intake system in a BMW E46 after a swap from the 2.0D M47N to the 3.0D M57 with a hybrid turbocharger.
The project involved building a custom, higher-flow intake system and modifying the intercooler.
The original intercooler outlets were removed and replaced with 76.1 mm aluminium elbows. The change was dictated by the limited mounting space resulting from the brake cooling ducts. The goal was to ensure optimal airflow, a leak-free system and correct routing geometry of the pressure pipes.
In addition, the gear shift mechanism was overhauled – a new original shift lever bearing bush and a new set of original selector rod spacer washers, eliminating excessive play and restoring factory shifting precision.
