The universal oil vapour separator (OIL CATCH TANK) is a high-quality, Polish-made product designed to filter the engine breather system. Its main job is to condense and separate oil vapours which would otherwise enter the intake system and combustion chamber, causing carbon build-up on intake components (including the throttle body and intake manifold). Accumulated deposits can lead to a loss of engine power.

The separator is fitted with a dipstick for checking the level of collected oil. Unlike cheaper Chinese equivalents, this model has an internal metal mesh that effectively separates oil from air.

BMW oil separator adapter

The adapter replaces the factory oil breather (oil separator) in BMW 3.0D, 2.5D and 2.0D engines of the M57, M57N, M57N2, M47, M47N and M47N2 series.

It eliminates the typical problems of the factory oil breather in these engines. Symptoms of a failing breather include oil leaks, increased oil consumption, excessive smoke from the exhaust, unstable idle and turbocharger problems. High fuel consumption, oil in the intake system and a sucked-in oil filler cap may also occur.

Using the adapter also keeps the intake system free of contamination, because crankcase vapours no longer go straight into the intake. This protects components such as the intercooler, intake pipes, throttle body and intake manifold.

The adapter blanking plate is made of high-quality stainless steel. It has an outlet for connecting an external oil catch tank.
